In the high country at Derwent Bridge,Tarraleah and Lake St Clair , you have the chance to slow down, breathe the fresh mountain air, and take in the sheer natural beauty of forests, lakes and rivers in Tasmania 's highlands.

Australia 's prime trout fishing waters are within easy reach of the area's towns.

From Derwent Bridge it is a five-minute drive to Lake St Clair , a grand natural lake at the southern end of the famous Overland Track in the Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park. The friendly Parks and Wildlife Service rangers at the Visitor Centre have expert knowledge of the many walks and the park environment.

Hydro-electric schemes at Tarraleah and Bronte Park harness our rainfall and produce a quarter of Tasmania 's ‘clean green' electricity.
